What We Do

The Natural Resources Division is responsible for ensuring that new and existing developments comply with Alachua County's land development regulations related to natural and historic resources protection.

How We Do It

We review development activities for potential impacts to regulated natural and historic resources in Alachua County.

Objectives:

  • Protect natural resources during all stages of development, from the land use planning to the building permit review process, from activities that would significantly damage the ecological integrity of these areas
  • Inform the general public about natural resources protection requirements
  • Seek compliance of sites that are found to be in violation of the land development code.
