Upcoming Fee Waived Animal Adoptions

Alachua County Animal Services is offering free pet adoptions to qualified homes from Tuesday, August 1 through Saturday, August 5, 2017, at the Animal Services Headquarters (3400 N.E. 53rd Avenue, Gainesville). They are open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

During the months of June, July, and August Animal Services takes in more animals than any other months of the year (especially kittens and puppies). Because of the increase in the shelter population, they are over capacity.

“There is no better time than now to adopt,” said Shelter Supervisor Jane Grantman. “When intake is high, help our adoptions reach the sky. Support your local county animal shelter and adopt today.”

Pet adopters must be 18 or older and show ID with proof of current address. If there are already pets in the home, the potential adopter must show proof that owned animals are current on rabies and license. All dogs and cats available for adoption are examined, vaccinated and spayed or neutered and microchipped before leaving Animal Services.
