Locally, the Alachua County Department of Environmental Protection plays an important role in our community's water quality. Several resources regarding the subject are found on their website including :

Additionally water quality information can be obtained from the water management districts. Alachua County is divided between two water management districts. The northwest portion is served by the Suwannee River Water Management District. In the southeastern half it is the St. Johns River Water Management District.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency offers information on local water quality and discharge permits in its Envirofacts Warehouse.
