Mission Statement

Alachua County Emergency Management is a value driven organization committed to the development and sustainment of a disaster resilient community through the engagement of our whole population. Alachua County Emergency Management will establish an innovative, progressive, all hazards and risk based Emergency Management program that will be a recognized leader in the State of Florida and the Nation.

Florida Statute Chapter 252 (Florida Emergency Management Act) requires Counties to:

  • Establish and maintain…an emergency management agency that has jurisdiction over and serve an entire county.
  • Develop a county emergency management plan and program that is coordinated and consistent with the state comprehensive emergency management plan and program.

Alachua County Emergency Management is a division of County Fire Rescue. Emergency Management is responsible for the organization, administration, and operation of the emergency management activities, services, and programs within the county and serves as liaison to the division and other local emergency management agencies and organizations.

Emergency Management also serves as the liaison for and coordinator of municipalities' requests for state and federal assistance during post disaster emergency operations.
