Tropical Storm Colin Update #1

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - A Tropical Storm Warning and a Flood Watch have been issued for Alachua County and most of Northeast Florida and portions of Southeast Georgia and adjacent coastal waters.

Bands of showers and thunderstorms will move across the area this morning. Widespread and heavier rain will move across the area this afternoon and tonight. There is the potential for sustained Tropical Storm force winds (40 mph or greater) later this afternoon and tonight.

Threats caused by the storm include strong wind gusts in squalls today and tonight (potentially 40 to 60 mph winds). Potential flooding rainfall is possible this afternoon and tonight (2” to 5”). Isolated tornados may threaten the area today and tonight with the passage of this storm system.
