Small Animal Emergency Sheltering Class

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Alachua County Emergency Management is enrolling citizens for the Awareness Level Small Animal Emergency Sheltering Class. This class is on June 20, 2015 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Alachua County Emergency Operations Center (1100 S.E. 27th Street, Gainesville). There is a $15 fee per student (collected at registration). The registration fee includes a complimentary t-shirt. This class is presented by the Florida State Animal Response Coalition (SARC).

The Awareness Level Small Animal Emergency Sheltering class is certified by the Florida Department of Emergency Management, and is required (in Florida) for those who wish to help companion animals in emergency shelters during a disaster. The class gives participants the knowledge needed to work in an emergency animal shelter, and the expertise and practical experience required to become a professional disaster animal responder.
