Waste Collection Change

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Alachua County has received official notice from Waste Management Incorporated of Florida of its intent to transfer the solid waste collection and disposal business of the Gainesville area operation to Emerald Waste Service, Central Florida Hauling, LLC (EWS).  The notice stated that,  ". . . at the closing Waste Management will assign all of its rights and obligations under the current curbside collection agreement between Waste Management and Alachua County to EWS, and that EWS will assume all of the rights and obligations of Waste Management under the Contract."  The sale is anticipated to be complete by the end of July.  County staff expects a smooth transition with no interruption in service level.
