Marital and Financial Classes

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Alachua County's Cooperative Extension Office will be offering the following two educational classes a number of times for the rest of year.  All classes will be held at the UF/IFAS Alachua County Extension Office located at 2800 N.E. 39th Ave., Gainesville, FL.  Pre-registration is required.  Call 352-955-2402 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to register.
 
Before You Tie the Knot
This free premarital class provides participants with a certificate worth a reduction of $32.50 on marriage licenses obtained in Alachua County.  The class covers topics including communication, conflict management & resolution, financial responsibility & spending plans, and children & parenting responsibilities. The class consists of two workshops, each lasting 2 hours. Participants must attend both sessions to receive a certificate of completion.  Classes are 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.  Below is the class schedule:
 
September 8 & 9         register by August 28
October 6 & 7             register by September 25
November 3 & 4          register by October 23
December 1 & 2          register by November 30
 
 
Financial Management Class
This financial management class for adults of all ages is designed to help participants learn to better manage their available resources. This class will help participants develop a budget, learn money management skills, use credit responsibly, and learn about consumer rights. This program meets the bankruptcy law education requirement. Cost is $10 per person. Classes are 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.  Below is the class schedule:
