ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - In conjunction with Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Alachua County Victim Services & Rape Crisis Center is sponsoring the "Respect Your Date Contest" in our public high schools. On Monday March 31, 2008 thru Friday April 4, 2008 Victim Services & Rape Crisis Center will be visiting six of our local public high schools promoting awareness and prevention in the areas of sexual and dating violence. In 2005, the Bureau of Justice Statistics found that people ages 16 thru 19 had a higher rate of sexual victimization of any age group.
Students who take a quiz testing their knowledge on stereotypes related to dating and sexual violence, cyber-stalking, and how to be a respectful date, will be entered to win prizes.
