Special CAPP Meeting Feb 5

ALACHUA COUNTY - A special meeting presenting an overview of the Community Agency Partnership Program (CAPP) process will be held by the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 1:30 p.m.  The special meeting will be held in the Jack Durrance Auditorium of the County Administration Building, 12 SE 1st St., Gainesville, FL.  This meeting is for CAPP staff to receive direction from the Commission on the upcoming year's process.
 
CAPP has two parts. The first part is a poverty reduction program and 80% of the budgeted funds are available to non-profit organizations with programs that serve to reduce poverty among Alachua County residents.  There was $890,756 allotted to the poverty reduction program in FY08, and 21 agencies with 27 poverty reduction programs received funding.
 
The second part is titled the Cultural and Environmental Funding Program and 20% of the budgeted funds are available for agencies that do not have poverty reduction as their main purpose.  Types of agencies funded consist of but are not limited to Eco-Heritage, Arts, Cultural and Environmental.  The agencies compete for funds based on their ability to show their program will serve an under-served population of Alachua County.There was $172,599 allotted to the Cultural and Environmental Funding Program in FY08, and 4 agencies with 8 cultural and environmental programs received funding.
