Visit "Paws on Parole" Dogs

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Alachua County Animal Services invites citizens to meet the first Academy of "Paws on Parole Graduates."  These dogs will be at Earth Pets Natural Pet Market (500 NW 60th Street, Gainesville) on Saturday May 2, 2009, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The dogs include:

  •  Daisy Mae- a walkerhound mix
  • Jack "Jumpin' Jack"- a beagle/lab mix
  • Buddy- a smaller lab mix
  • Sam "Samantha"- a viszula/chow mix
  • Sky- a bluetick/Catahoula cross
  • Tucker- a plothound

This group of dogs will officially graduate the "Paws on Parole" program May 8, 2009, and will have a Canine Good Citizen Certificate. They have been training with inmates from the Gainesville Correctional Institution Work Camp. The inmates learn the methods and train the dogs in the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizens Course.

Alachua County Animal Services is located at 3400 53rd Ave., Gainesville. Their regular hours of operation are Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
