Tropical Storm Barry forms in Gulf of Mexico

Alachua County, Fl. - Alachua County Emergency Management is currently monitoring Tropical Storm Barry in the Gulf of Mexico.  The National Weather Service Jacksonville expects the storm to be a marine event however, Alachua County can expect gusty winds and 3-6 inches of rain over the weekend period.  The National Weather Service does not expect sustained tropical storm force winds to reach inland.  There is a risk of tornados in Alachua County.

 

Citizens are advised to monitor the storms progress throughout the weekend.  The County 311 emergency information line is currently being updated to include Tropical Storm Barry reports.  Click on the link below to go to The National Hurricane Center website for more information.
