ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Alachua County Animal Services, along with Gainesville Automotive-Chevy, Cadillac and Mazda, and Campus USA Credit Union are hosting “Car Wars: Episode One” on Saturday June 14, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Gainesville Automotive (2600 N. Main Street, Gainesville). This auto event will benefit the Alachua County Animal Services in its effort to win the ASPCA Rachel Ray $100K Challenge. A portion of the proceeds from every vehicle sold during the event will benefit Alachua County Animal Services.

Adoptable pets will be on-site, and adoptions will be free to qualified adopters. Animals have received medical exams, vaccinations (including rabies), flea and tick treatment, and have been spayed or neutered, microchipped, licensed, and will receive one free office visit to a participating veterinary clinic in the area.

Alachua County was chosen to participate in the ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge, which is a contest in which 50 shelters across the country compete to break their own records (saving the lives of animals). Throughout the months of June, July and August 2014, each competing shelter must save more dogs, cats, puppies and kittens than they did during the same three months in 2013. The grand prize is a $100,000 grant. The County goal is to save 2,500 animals.

“Car Wars: Episode One is a benefit to the local community.” states Brandon Maynard, General Sales Manager. “It’s one-stop shopping for a great cause. What a great chance to get a new vehicle and take home a friend for life!”
