Joint Commission Meeting: Alachua County and City of High Springs

The Alachua County Board of County Commissioners is taking government to the people. The Commission is holding a series of open meetings in municipalities throughout the county.

The next meeting will be a joint meeting with the City of High Springs at 6 p.m. on May 4. The meeting will be held at the High Springs City Hall, 110 NW First Ave., High Springs.

The agenda for the meeting will include a discussion of:

  • Need for truck bypass in the downtown area
  • Transportation improvement projects (such as bike trail connectivity to O'Leno State Park)
  • Discuss need for small city representatives for MTPO
  • Parks and recreation funding to cities for providing recreation to non-city residents
  • Alachua County Forever Reservoir Park
  • Need to emphasize more economic development activity in High Springs through coordination with the County
  • City of High Springs' Mainstreet Program
  • Fourth cent bed tax
  • Law enforcement/Fire/MSTU or assessment
  • Storm water/MSBU
  • Commission general and informal discussion

The meeting will also provide an opportunity for citizen comments and questions.
