Advisory Board Openings

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – Alachua County is looking for residents willing to serve on a County Advisory Board. The openings listed below have a critical need for applicants. Those with an interest in being engaged and involved with County government and the community are encouraged to apply.

Current openings in need of immediate applicants include:

Alachua County Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC): The Board of County Commissioners will appoint three citizens to the Alachua County Affordable Housing Advisory Committee on Tuesday, May 28, 2013. The deadline for applications is Tuesday, May 14.

The AHAC’s mission is to review the established policies and procedures, ordinances, land development regulations, and adopted local government comprehensive plan of Alachua County and to recommend specific actions or initiatives to encourage affordable housing while protecting the ability of the property to appreciate in value, and other affordable housing issues as directed. The board is statutorily required for the administration of SHIP funds, and also administers the CDBG program.  

Positions needed: One citizen actively engaged as a for-profit provider of affordable housing, One citizen representing laborers actively engaged in residential affordable housing construction, One citizen actively engaged in the banking or mortgage industry in connection with affordable housing, One Alachua County resident, One alternate

AHAC meets on the third Thursday of each month. Meetings begin at 3:30 p.m. and are held in the Community Treasures Meeting Room, at the Alachua County Administration Building (12 SE 1st Street, Gainesville).

Alachua County’s Housing Finance Authority Advisory Board: The Board of County Commissioners is looking for a citizen knowledgeable in labor, finance, or commerce; a citizen-at-large and an alternate.

The Housing Finance Authority is authorized under State Statute to issue tax exempt revenue bonds to finance qualified affordable housing projects in Alachua County.

The Housing Finance Authority Advisory Board meets on a need to serve basis. Meetings begin at 2:30 p.m. and are held in the County Attorney’s Conference Room at the Alachua County Administration Building (12 SE 1st Street, Gainesville).
