County Accepting Bids for House Rehabilitation/Reconstruction

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL- The Alachua County Growth Management Department is pleased to announce that sealed bids will be accepted beginning September 13, 2012, for the rehabilitation or reconstruction of eleven homes in Alachua County through the Florida Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Housing Rehabilitation program. The funding is from a $750,000 grant from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. The purpose of this program is to preserve existing housing stock and replace substandard housing stock owned by lower income households in unincorporated Alachua County.

Seven homes will be rehabilitated to correct housing code deficiencies and four substandard homes will be replaced with new construction to bring the homes into compliance with the standards of the minimum housing code as well as to increase the energy efficiency of each home.

A mandatory site visit and walk-through of the homes is scheduled for September 12, 2012, and bids are due by 2 p.m. on September 26, 2012.
