Annual Veterans Day Celebration

ALACHUA COUNTY - Alachua County Veterans Services and the veteran community will hold their Annual Veterans Day Celebration on Friday, November 11, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Alachua County Veterans Memorial in Kanapaha Park (on the corner of SW 75th St. and SW 41st Pl., Gainesville).  The theme this year will be "Answering America’s Call".  This event is open to the public. Citizens are advised to bring their own lawn chairs to sit on. 

The celebration features the unveiling of the Medal of Honor monument which will be placed in front of the Southwest Recreational Center being constructed at the Kanapaha Park site.  There will also be musical tributes by Lincoln Middle School, a drill team demonstration, a flag and a wreath laying ceremony and the arrival of the US flag by Sky Divers from Sky Dive Palatka.
