ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The Alachua County Board of County Commissioners will hold a special meeting in the County Administration Building, Room 209 (Jack Durrance Auditorium) on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 1:30 p.m.

The purpose of the meeting is to conduct a workshop to discuss redistricting of the County Commission seats.  The Constitution of the State of Florida and the Florida Statutes require that, after each 10-year census, the Board of County Commissioners divide the County into five districts whose population is as equal as possible.

County staff will make a brief redistricting presentation on the process it used to create a map of proposed revised Commission districts based on numbers from the recently released 2010 census.  The Board will discuss the proposed map and seek public input on the new districts.
