ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Alachua County has added a link at the top-right corner of each of its websites, labeled "Translate". This link allows users the option to view the page content in more than 50 languages. Users can select a language from the toolbar and click the Translate button.
As visitors navigate through the County web site, the Translate toolbar will continue to translate the pages in the selected language. While most of the text on the Alachua County web site will be translated in the language chosen, some content and elements of the County web site will continue to appear in the original English language. Published documents and files that can be downloaded from the County web site will not be translated.
The Translate toolbar is a free tool developed by Google. The accuracy of Google’s translation engine is achieved by referencing patterns in hundreds of millions of documents that have already been translated by human translators. The translation engine then takes phrases within a sentence and makes a best-guess match to similar phrases found in other languages.
