Rumor Control Hotline Activated

GAINESVILLE, FL - In past weeks, a large amount of attention has been focused on Alachua County due to the proposed activities of the Dove World Outreach Center.  In an effort to provide timely and accurate information to the citizens of Alachua County, the Alachua County Emergency Operations Center will activate the rumor control hotline at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 8.  To reach the hotline dial (352)-264-6557.

         

The rumor control hotline will be operated around the clock by the Alachua County Emergency Operations Center.  Information will be provided by law enforcement directly involved with the activities on Saturday, September 11, 2010. The hotline will have the latest up-to-date information to address any concerns or suspicions held by the citizens.  The hotline should be used for rumor control and information purposes only.  All suspicious activity should be reported to 911 or the Alachua County Combined Communications Center at 352-955-1818.

         

Local law enforcement would like to reassure the citizens of Alachua County that we are well informed and prepared to handle any emergency should it arise.  Preparations have been under way for more than a month with numerous local, state, and federal agencies collaborating to ensure the safety of all citizens in Alachua County.
