New Hours for Tax Collector's Office

Thursday, April 1, 2010 5:00 PM

This release sent at the request of the Alachua County Tax Collector's Office.

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The Alachua County Tax Collector's office is modifying its office hours.  Effective Monday April 5, 2010, the hours of operation for all three public service locations will be 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.  Expanded service hours of 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. will be eliminated.

Using current technologies to study transaction histories, the Alachua County Tax Collector's Office was able to isolate key service times and thus modify service hours accordingly.  These modified hours of service will enable the office to provide a more efficient and effective delivery of services by having the office efficiently staffed during peak hours of operation.

Utilizing industry standard operating hours will allow the Tax Collector's Office to streamline staffing schedules, which is necessary as budgetary cutbacks have lead to the elimination of six positions (through attrition) over the past two years.

The Tax Collector's Office continues to encourage customers to utilize the most efficient and cost-effective means of service delivery which are those services delivered via phone, internet and mail.  For citizens who choose to personally visit the office, the Tax Collector's Office is confident this change will enable them to deliver efficient, cost-effective customer service.
