Alachua County Health Department to Hold Special Influenza Vaccination Clinic

1/2/2007 8:58 AM

9:00 a.m.

ALACHUA COUNTY - With influenza rates rising in areas throughout the state, the Alachua County Health Department will hold a special vaccination clinic on Saturday January 6, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The location will be the Health Department main facility located at 224 SE 24th Street. The vaccinations will cost $20.00.  Individuals with Medicare coverage will be billed to the program by the Health Department.

Health Department Director Tom Belcuore stated, "With the activity occurring in various areas of the state, coupled with national travel and our student population returning from all over the state, the possibilities of increased influenza activity are heightened here for the next month. Flu activity usually peaks in January throughout the country as well, so the factors are aligning for increased activity here."

Citizens requiring further information can call the Health Department Immunization Clinic at 334-7950.  Press inquiries should be directed to Tom Belcuore at 334-8892.
