Preparing for Weather Crisis Workshop

4/6/2012 10:45 AM

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - Alachua County Emergency Management invites residents to participate in a "Preparing for Weather Crisis" Lincoln Estates Neighborhood Workshop at the Alachua County Health Department Conference Room (224 Southeast 24th Street, Gainesville), on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, beginning at 5:30 p.m. This workshop is free to attend and refreshments will be served.

This workshop is being held to discuss weather warning services and enroll participants in the County's CodeRED weather warning system. Guest speakers at the event include WCJB TV-20 Meteorologist, Mike Gismondi, Alachua County Emergency Management Assistant Director, Jeff Bielling, and members of the Gainesville Police Advisory Committee.

The CodeRED system allows Alachua County to telephone all or targeted areas of the County in case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action, such as an evacuation, contaminated water, hazardous chemical spill, etc.

To enroll in Alachua County's CodeRED Notification Database, visit the Community Enrollment Page or call Alachua County Emergency Management at 352-264-6500. Enrolling allows you to supply your own information creating a more accurate database and allows residents to select how you want to be notified.

For more information about the event, contact Doris Edwards at 352-214-3966.

If you have a disability and need an accommodation in order to participate in a County program, service or public meeting, please contact the Alachua County Equal Opportunity Office at (352)374-5275 at least 3 business days prior to the event. TTY users please call 711 (Florida Relay Service).
