Commissioner Long to Present in Tallahassee

ALACHUA COUNTY - Florida Association of Counties (FAC) 2nd Vice President Rodney Long, of the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners, will be making a presentation, on behalf of the statewide FAC membership, to the State of Florida House of Representatives Affordable Housing Interim Workgroup during its first meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 20.  The meeting will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Room 306 of the Florida House Office Building in Tallahassee. Members of the Workgroup will hear testimony from housing-related organizations, local governments and legislative committees.  Commissioner Long will be outlining the critical issues facing Florida's counties in the area of affordable housing for state residents.
 
The Workgroup was established to build upon affordable housing policy initiatives enacted in the 2006 Legislative Session and to develop recommendations for the 2007 Legislative Session.
 
House members, appointed by House Speaker Allan Bense, serving on the workgroup are: Rep. Frank Attkisson (R-Osceola), Rep. Dan Gelber (D-Miami-Dade), Rep. Jennifer Carroll (R-Duval), Rep. Adam Hasner (R-Palm Beach), Rep. Marti Coley (R-Jackson), Rep. Richard Machek (D-Palm Beach), Rep. Larry Cretul (R-Marion), Rep. Priscilla Taylor (D-Palm Beach), Rep. Mike Davis (R-Collier), and Rep. Trey Traviesa (R-Hillsborough).
