October Family & Consumer Sciences Programs

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The Alachua County Extension Office is pleased to announce the following Family & Consumer Sciences Programs for October, 2011. These programs are offered by Dr. Brenda Williams, Family & Consumer Sciences Agent. All of these programs are held at the Extension Office (2800 NE 39th Avenue, Gainesville).

Financial Management Series - Equipping Your Financial Toolbox

·         Session One: Managing Your Finances and Making Credit Work for You – October 3, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
This session is designed for those who want to review the components of credit scores, understand the credit laws and get their finances under better control. Young couples and college students are invited as well as any who wish to attend.

·         Session Two: Important Papers; What to Keep, Where and How Long, October 17, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Topics include: organizing important papers to save you time and give you peace of mind. Tips for record keeping for income tax will also be discussed.

·         Session Three: Basic Estate Planning – October 24, 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Topics include: Wills, Living Wills and Surrogate Designation for Health Care. This session is especially encouraged for parents with minor aged children.

No fee for these classes. Registration is recommended but not required. Call 352-337-6209 (voicemail).

Food Safety and Quality Program (ServSafe®) –October 12, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This program is dedicated to providing training which enables food managers and staff to offer Florida consumers food that is prepared in a clean and safe environment. For further information and to register, please visit
