Susan Flores Baird was elected to the County Commission on November 2, 2010.  A successful businesswoman ready to serve, she says, “I will work hard to bring the prosperity and quality of life to our citizens that Alachua County can promise through business opportunities and limited government.”

Born and raised bilingually in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Susan earned her MBA from the University of Michigan and competed on the tennis team at Michigan State University where she earned her BA with a double major in Criminal Justice and Spanish Literature.  Susan held an executive level position in Product Management with Kraft General Foods for four years and further honed her marketing skills while working at an advertising agency in New York City for two years.

As a single mother of a lovely daughter, Susan never loses sight of what she is working for.  Susan grew up bilingual and bicultural; her mother, Jovita is from Zacatecas, Mexico and her late father, Charles was of Scottish decent.  Susan believes that Alachua County is the best place to raise a family.  She is very aware that as home to the University of Florida and Santa Fe College, this area attracts the best and brightest talent in the nation.  She takes pride in being a part of the Gator Nation.  

Susan has been a Top Producer in residential real estate sales in Alachua County with Bosshardt Realty and credits her success to her hard work and talent for connecting with people from all walks of life. 

Susan and her family are active members of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and are always striving to improve their quality of life mentally, physically and spiritually.  In speaking of this striving she said, “We are a product of our past decisions, therefore, we can determine our future by what we do today.  With the Grace of God, everything is possible.”
